Federation Governor Vacancy

The governors of the Ladysmith Federation would like to receive expressions of interest from parents of children at either of the schools or friends, acquaintances and people living in the local community who would be willing to become a governor with the Federation.  If you would be interested in becoming a governor please complete the Expression of Interest form and return it to one of the school offices.  If you know someone in the local community who might be interested in governorship then please pass the form to them and ask them to return it to the school. The form can be obtained from the school office or below.

School governance is a very important part of the management of a school and governors are essential to ensure that schools maintain the highest standards for the children that they educate and that the school operates within the budget that it has been allocated.  This expression of interest does not commit you to anything and you will be able to make a decision about whether you want to be involved once we have had the opportunity to provide you with more information about the role.

Parent Governor – We need to recruit a parent governor who will be responsible for representing the views of parents of the schools on the Full Governing Body.  People applying for this role must have a child at one of the schools and, if there is more than one application, the position is subject to an election process. Only one Parent Governor is required across the two schools and this vacancy has arisen due to the current post-holder coming to the end of their term.

Co-opted Governor – The Governing Body can co-opt people on to the committee if they have the interest, skills, knowledge and school or community connection that would benefit the operation of the Governing Body.  Co-opted Governors are not required to be parents of children at either of the schools, although they may be.  People who have applied to be a Parent Governor but have been unsuccessful in the election process may still be co-opted onto the Governing Body if there are vacancies available.

Please complete and return the form by Friday 23rd June and I will then contact you to give you more information about the role.

Best wishes

Ian Gibson
