Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor teaching enhances learning, often by putting the children's learning in real 'hands-on' context.

Each year group has the opportunity to experience outdoor learning in the many areas around our school.  This outdoor work will be linked into the work that they will do through the curriculum and will include a range of activities such as:

  • outdoor art
  • fire lighting
  • shelter building
  • rope work

Activities that take place all have a common goal :

  • They provide children with opportunities to take safe, managed risks.
  • Children make choices and initiate some learning for themselves whilst overcoming challenges.
  • Development of self-esteem and confidence.
  • Create an awareness of their own emotional needs and the needs of others.
  • To co-operate with their peers and adults to develop working strategies.

If you have any skills that you feel may contribute to the outdoor learning of our children, please feel free to contact your child's class teacher to discuss how you could help.
